Our Herd

 Nala

Nala

Nala is a sweet 15 hand 11-year-old dark chocolate Rocky (born 3/31/1998).  She is both registered and certified to breed by the Rocky Mountain Horse Association. Nala, like her mother Midnight Mickey, is an excellent example of an old bloodline (foundation) Rocky Mountain horse.  Her lineage includes Kilburns Chocolate Sundown on the sire's and dam’s side as well as Buddy Roe/Sewell’s Sam.  Needless to say she is sure footed and steady on the trail.  In addition to having the smooth gait that everyone loves about Rockies, Nala has the wonderful laid-back Rocky temperament.  She is also super-friendly, typically the first horse that comes up to the pasture fence to greet visitors and to look for attention.

Nala's first foal Nellie arrived in May 2007, a beautiful black filly out of Menifee Mountain Gambler, a gorgeous foundation black Rocky stallion.  You can find more information about Nellie by clicking on this Two Year Olds for Sale link.  Nala's most recent foal is a handsome dark chocolate colt, Hazen's Jonathan, born 6/25/08, out of Gatsby, a classic chocolate stallion with flaxen mane and tail.

Creech's Cricket

Creech’s Cricket is a lovely 8-year-old, 14.3 hands red chocolate mare, born 6/1/2001.  She is both registered and certified to breed by both the Rocky Mountain Horse Association (RMHA) as well as the Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse Association (KMSHA).   Cricket is a great example of the foundation Rocky Mountain bloodlines, going all the way back to Tobe on her sire’s side (Broken Bone Sam’s Son, Sewell’s Sam, Doc and Choco) and back to Sam Clemon’s Tim on both the Sire’s and Dam’s side.  Like her ancestry, Cricket has the easy going temperament, great endurance and the smooth gait of the Rocky breed.

Cricket is doing a great job as the lead mare in our herd, and she is also an excellent mom.  She is the mother of Hazen's Blue Cricket ("B.C."), a striking dark chocolate/flaxen-maned filly featured on our For Sale page.  Cricket’s most recent foal was a beautiful chocolate colt, Hazen’s Mocha Magic, born 6/12/08, out of Sweet Waters Nickels & Dimes, a handsome chocolate/flaxen-maned stallion (now sold). She consistently throws chocolate babies even with black stallions.

 Dock's Playgirl

Dock's Playgirl

Dock's Playgirl is one of our younger mares (born 3/22/2005).  Playgirl is 15.3 hands, with excellent conformation.  She is stunning to behold with her lovely dark brown chocolate coat and thick flaxen mane and tail.  Playgirl loves people and attention, a really sweet girl with a curious disposition. She is a gal who likes to please, and is one of the first horses to come up to people in the pasture. We think Playgirl is a 2 on the temperament scale (1 being the most laid back and 10 being the least).

Playgirl has a really great natural gait. If desired this girl can really move out.  She is the granddaughter of Buddy Roe, and her sire is UMH Grand Champion Diamond Doc. Her lineage includes such notable names as Magnum/Dock, Johnson’s Toby, Choco Dock, Sewell’s Sam and Choco/Kilburns Chocolate Sundown—need I say more?

Dock's Playgirl is registered and certified to breed with both the Rocky Mountain Horse Association (RMHA) and the Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse Association (KMSHA).  We plan to breed her to our handsome black stallion Snippet.
